POS Designs System
Role: Product designer
Date: 2023/24
Company: TASK
The Project
In this project, I developed a comprehensive design system for point-of-sale (POS) user interfaces across a diverse range of touch-only devices. The aim was to create a unified and intuitive user experience that enhances usability, efficiency, and accessibility for both cashiers and customers in retail environments.
Project Goals:
- Unified Experience: Establish a cohesive design language that ensures consistency across different touch-only POS devices, regardless of screen size.
- Intuitive Interaction: Design intuitive touch interactions that streamline the checkout process, reducing transaction times and minimising user errors.
- Accessibility: Prioritise accessibility features such as contrast, font sizes, and interactive elements to ensure usability for all users.
- Scalability: Create a scalable design system that can accommodate future updates, new features, and additional device integrations without compromising usability or visual coherence.
Foundations
Stablished a visual language including color schemes, typography, iconography, and feedback animations that enhance usability and brand identity.
Atomic design
Tools
I utilised Figma for designing and prototyping the UI. Zeplin to translate designs into developer-ready specifications, enhancing collaboration between design and development teams and Jira, that facilitated efficient project management, enabling seamless task tracking product development.
Components
Defined a set of reusable UI components (e.g., buttons, forms, menus) that ensure consistency across the design system.
